Larry Hopper shared with CEO students the advice he's given his own kids--If you want something in life, you have to work hard for it.
Larry and wife Missy are owners of K9.5 Training Academy--a police dog training, domestic dog training, grooming and boarding facility that opened in 2024. Together, Larry and Missy have planned, invested and built Larry's niche' for training dogs into a growing business.
Larry began as a correctional officer, has served as a patrolman, sheriff's deputy, and is now the K9 Commander with the Vigo County Sheriff's Department. Missy was a teacher with the Vigo County School Corporation for 25 years. With the help of the ISBDC (Indiana Small Business Development Center), they developed a business plan and committed to working together to make this business a reality.
Larry share with CEO where the "9.5" came from in the business name--a woodworking accident that cost him half of his left thumb. With those 9.5 fingers, Larry has taken an idea and passion and built a business that he and Missy call theirs. He's proud of the personality and atmosphere they offer at their facility.
