One feature of CEO is listening to entrepreneurs tell their story. Kevin O'Leary, Mr. Wonderful of television's Shark Tank, shared that "storytelling is what keeps the juices flowing."
O'Leary was the kickoff speaker for day one of the 2-day Innovation conference in Indianapolis. His "Fireside Chat" wasn't quite as aggressive as he usually is on TV.
"I'm not the mean shark," he said. "I may just not tell you what you want to hear."
O'Leary focused on the value of customer service, accessibility to data, and the harm distractions can bring to entrepreneurs. "Focus on 3 things you want to get done today." He said that 20% of your time will come from distractions.
CEO students were invited by the ISU Scott College of Business to attend Rally. In its third year, Rally offers business leaders a chance to learn from each other, network, pitch their business, and sample their products.
In April, CEO students will launch their own individual businesses. This opportunity to experience Rally motivates, inspires and models what they will be doing in the second semester.
