To quote Yoda, the beloved Star Wars character-- "Do or do not. There is no try."
The phrase means when "approaching a task, you should commit to it fully with the belief you will succeed, rather than approaching it with a mindset that allows for failure or excuses."
CEO students took up the challenge when given $1 to turn it into $100. Given three weeks, students could use the tools they had and work to generate seed money for their individual businesses. Their goal was $100. The closer each got to the goal, they were asked, "Why stop there?"
The work they chose ranged from babysitting, cleaning houses, selling commissioned art, detailing cars, giving soccer lessons, and selling baked goods. Some students had to pivot and changed the direction they went when weather, time, and circumstances didn't come through.
As one of the speakers said earlier this year, "Doing something is better than doing nothing."
At the time of class, students had generated $2145.10--all is theirs to help with their start-up costs.
