Some form of non-woven fabric produced at Fitesa is likely in your home right now. This fabric is used in facemasks, surgical gowns, adult and baby diapers, hygiene products, wipes, and filtration items. Fitesa in Terre Haute is one of 20 plants in 11 countries, all part of a family-owned company. Terre Haute is also home to a Fitesa Development Center.
Fernando Matos, plant manager in Terre Haute, has been with the company for over 30 years. He shared the history of Fitesa, that started in 1973 in Brazil as a carpet backing company. Over the years, it has transitioned to hygiene products, film technology, and medical supply markets. CEO students toured the production lines, seeing the films and elastic being produced, rolled, cut, and quality inspected.
Nate Slaven, Fitesa HR spokesman, said there are opportunities right now that they are looking for in employees. Nate shared he is the third generation in his family to work in this plant, which was formerly VISKING, VisQueen, Tredegar, and now Fitesa. Being dependable, on time, and trainable are all characteristics sought in employees at the 2nd largest non-woven fabric producer in the world. It employs approximately 140 people, runs four 12-hour shifts, and operates 24/7.
