Will Foraker began taking piano lessons at six years old, "to make me well rounded," he said. Who knew that would be the trajectory of his life.
Will lives with his wife in Tucson, Arizona, but he says he "misses the Haute." He proudly claims to be a product of the Vigo County School Corporation. His career has allowed him to meet many who attended private schools that cost a quarter of a million dollars. Yet, he feels he is as educated, successful and content as many of them.
CEO shares the life lesson that "life ain't no laser beam," and Will shared how true that was for him. After graduating from Terre Haute North Vigo, Will began studying mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute for Technology. Somehow, though, it wasn't what he wanted to do. After pivoting to economics and not finding traction, he responded to an online talent agency advertisement, looking for a cruise ship pianist. Will auditioned to play as an intermission-ist and lobby pianist, a job that opened the door to other opportunities and helped him network with some amazing people. Now, he works for American Cruise Lines on riverboat cruises. In addition, he said he has been a voice actor, band leader, transcriber, piano tuner, and piano teacher. He has found his calling now and is happy.
Will quoted Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh who said as a teenager, everything is chaos. But, as a middle-aged man, it looks like a well-orchestrated story. Will looks back at his journey and all he has gained along the way.
Success is gauged differently for each person, he told CEO. Will said he may not be atop a Spotify list or have a Grammy, but he is fulfilled. He does what "fills his soul, pays the bills, and is what is needed in society."
